Hey, neighbor. I'm Delaney Young, and I'm so glad you found your way here. I live in Chicago, and I'm a full-time 2nd teacher who also writes songs that are too honest for youth group. I try to make unconventional, resonant, true things of beauty.

In 2023, I released "Wrestle". Later that year, I released my first EP, called "pilgrim memos". The project is a collection of live, unedited voice memo recordings of 4 songs I wrote while backpacking through Europe on a 6-month pilgrimage. The project's style and format aim to mimic the content of its songs: raw and honest words to and from God about doubt, discovery, and journey. In February 2025, I released my Sufferwell EP, a collection of songs about surrender, suffering well, and coming home. In March 2025, my song "As I Am" was released as a part of The Gospel Coalition's collaborative album, "What Is The Gospel?"

I am currently working on a new project with my new friend and producer Ethan Nathaniel. These songs are bright, tender, and my favorite I've ever written. You can help me raise money to fund this project here.

For two weeks this winter, Jon Guerra will host a series of evenings across the U.S. called Invisible Things. Each night will bring together song, poetry, stillness, and reflection — with Jon Guerra and featured guests: poet-priest Andy Squyres and singer-songwriter Delaney Young.

These gatherings are not concerts so much as experiments in cultivating resonance —resonance with the deeper, invisible layers of reality. Beauty puts us in touch with invisible things: spirit, hope, personhood, the kingdom of God, soul, love. We need spaces where those invisible things can be felt and named — spaces that awaken and sustain us. Beauty is one path to those spaces. Beauty stuns us, consoles us, stretches us, and rewrites us. Deep calls to deep.

Invisible Things is Jon Guerra’s attempt to hold such a space. He hopes you’ll join him in remembering that beauty is not a luxury for the few, but necessary nourishment for us all.

The album I'm working on with Ethan Nathaniel will be a collection of 4 of my original songs and will be centered around the theme of divine belonging. These songs are about the discovery that we belong to God, and God belongs to us. This belonging feels like many things: an inconvenience, slowness, rest, a load to bear, need, a relief, a joy, a process. In short, this project will be a study of relationship with the Divine. These songs are pure, tender, curious, and bright. Of all the songs I’ve ever written, they’re my favorite. Recording and producing (especially when done well) is an expensive and exhausting beast of a process. The studio equipment is not cheap, the hours are weird and long, and the editing and arranging of each song takes a massive toll on both brain and body. Ethan is about to undertake this process with/for me, and I want to compensate him for it. 100% of the money from this fundraiser will go toward compensating him for the excellent, painstaking work that he is about to do on this project.

Any wholehearted artistic endeavor is such a dumb gamble, but the vast majority of us can't help ourselves because the pursuit of some semblance of a career in music-making is more of a haunting than a calling. And if I cannot help myself, so be it; might as well garner a few patrons, some witnesses to the work who will hold me accountable and keep my proverbial lights on.
